Who knew that loving fonts could be so dangerous? Warning: once you start playing Typewar, you will have NO control over your time. (I was grateful when the site was pulled down for maintenance yesterday evening.) Highly recommended (compulsive) fun for your inner type geek!

Its a fine idea, really -- youre puttering along choosing between Optima and Garamond, Helvetica and Futura, and then Verdana pops up. Verdana? Seriously?

I spent ages playing this on the web and was excited to see an iPhone version come out, but this app really doesnt lend itself to the kind of enjoyably mindless progression from letter to letter that the website offers. The interstitial "correct"/"wrong" screens are distracting and break up the flow; I dont know if their presence is required to hide the delay of loading the next letter or what, but Id rather just see a spinner on the letter and have a "correct"/"wrong" bar drop down from the title area. Ill still be playing this, as the mechanics just as addicting as ever, but Id hesitate to recommend it to a friend until the UIs a little less bothersome.

This game is addictive, theyre right. Im not even a typeface nerd. I like Comic Sans! That said, Typewar is a great way to kill time. The game play is easy, scoring is clear, you see how you stack up to the crowd immediately, its great fun. This is one of those casual gaming apps that makes the iPhone awesome. Few minutes while you wait for an app to compile, load Typewar. Waiting in line at the bank, load Typewar... you see where Im going with this. Worth every penny!

1) no retina display support. Really? This is an app about the beauty of fonts and youre not even taking advantage of THE BEST SCREEN FOR VIEWING FONTS ON EARTH. BY HUMANS. EVER. 2) would like some tips/tutorial about fonts e.g. What is a serif? Maybe a discussion of each font as it is introduced. E.g. Garamond has distinct rounded serifs. I docked 2.5 stars for no retina display and .5 for no tips. Other than than great concept and decent UI design. Get back to work!

I really cant stop playing. Picked it up after meeting the creators at PyCon 2011. Eldarion rocks.

Awesome game, Im already addicted. More entertaining then any other iPhone game Ive come across. But seriously, why the super low resolution samples?

Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. It makes no sense that this game does not have retina display support by now... To me, it is just unacceptable.

Does not work on iOS 7. Launch app, first screen loads, no response to any button taps.

This is a fun game to pass the time. It has not been updated to fit iPhone 5+ screens. I cant log in anymore.
